Tekscan body pressure measurement system BPMS

BPMS: Body Pressure Measurement System for Comfort & Safety

Body Pressure Measurement System

The Body Pressure Measurement System (BPMS™) is a highly adaptable and precise tool designed for evaluating pressure distribution and positioning. It offers dependable, high-resolution pressure data, supporting clinicians and researchers in improving comfort and safety in applications such as seating, bedding, and cushioning design. Its ultra-thin, flexible sensor matrix captures detailed pressure maps, identifying areas where excessive pressure is concentrated due to anatomical features. This allows users to pinpoint specific zones that require adjustment or pressure relief, aiding in the development of optimized support and positioning solutions.

Key Benefits

  • Design optimization

    •  Verify comfort

    • Ergonomics

    • Understand body shifts in a static chair or an application

    • with a moving vehicle – ingress/outgress

    • Analyze comfort of different materials for seat design

  • Quality control

  • Competitive benchmarking

  • Marketing tool to demonstrate the comfort of your product

  • Fully conforming sensor available (CONFORMat™) avoids hammocking or measurement of artifact

Key Applications Include:

  • Comfort Testing and Analysis

  • Support Surface Design

    • Shape/contours of seat or backrest

    • Dimensions of seat

    • Firmness and padding

  • Material Testing

  • Durability and Longevity Studies

  • Ingress/Egress Studies

  • Seating and Positioning Research

BPMS is Used by Clinicians and Researchers to:

  • Screen for and monitor treatment of pressure sores, ulcers, and wounds

  • Identify pressure on high-risk areas

  • Evaluation pre- and post-surgical procedures

  • Assess seating and posture abnormalities

  • Evaluate areas of patient discomfort

  • Enhance patient satisfaction with support surfaces

BPMS Components:

Tekscan systems consist of scanning electronics - Evolution™ Handle(s), software, and patented thin-film sensors.  The BPMS system is configurable, based on your application requirements.

The Evolution handle connects to the sensor, gathers the data from the sensor, and then processes and sends this data to your computer via USB connection.

Components depend on system configuration. Additional items may be included with your system purchase.
